Self Diagnosis of Company Working Conditions: Portal and App. Updated.

The MHLW’s (Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare) renewed Japanese company working conditions portal and Apps. This is a useful tool for both employers and employees to assess their workplace and the work rules in place relating to working hours, overtime, rest, etc.

The Ministry outlines the main points impacting employers and employees and has updated both the portal providing information, and the self-diagnosis App itself.

For Companies

  • It is mainly assumed that the personnel and labor personnel of the company will grasp the current situation and issues of the way of working and resting in the company and using it to consider the measures to be worked on in the company.
  • Indicators are composed from five perspectives: “length of working hours”, “status of taking vacation”, “working style and resting with sharpness”, “flexible work style”, and “activity of employees with time constraints”, and check based on actual data, etc.
  • Check the company’s situation in the same scale and industry, such as the company’s situation, the average value by scale and industry by diagnosis
  • Confirm the ideas of the initiatives provided, and consider and implement the need to work on in-house

For employees

  • When companies promote work style reform, it is assumed that they will be used when grasping on-site issues such as the actual situation of the way managers and general employees work and considering future measures and efforts.
  • Have your employees answer the checklist items and be aware of the initiatives that you can do in-house
  • Aggregate and analyze employee responses in the department in charge of human resources and labor, and grasp the situation and issues of the whole company, business site, department, etc.
  • Consider future measures base

However, we do not accept any responsibility for inaccuracies in our materials, nor for any consequences of readers relying on our materials.

  • Verse Corporation publishes articles on timely issues in Japanese Social Welfare and Labour Law. Japanese payroll, source deductions, and all labor law work & pay rules regarding compensation, social insurance, absenteeism & sick leave, etc. require strict adherence. Labor/employment law can be complex, even for Japanese companies, and must be handled mostly in Japanese. As with all social welfare and labor law matters in Japan, please seek out professional Sharoushi (Certified Labor and Social Security Attorney.)
  • The bulk of the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare (MHLW) announcements are in Japanese.  There are some general materials on the English site, however it tends to
  • reflect only basic information.  Please always seek out a local Japanese Sharoushi for an accurate interpretation of these complex rules and laws.
  • In our External Resources you will find links to a select number of trusted Japanese and global resources addressing Japanese labor law, workplace Employer responsibilities and trends, etc.
